Outline: Knowledge Organizer App Reviews

100 add

Still waiting for the update, half a year later...

More than half a year later, there is still no update to make this software actually useful. The program is still reader-only, and one is left wondering if we were not fooled by the promise of a coming update… Very disappointing, and ugly practice.

disappointed - do not your money on this application

Search: search only in the title not the content unable to add Table unable to add documentation from web browser except Safari (missing link) already corrupted several of my onenote still able to open with onenote by Outline keep crashing. I m sending a crash dump of I have to open or stop using some onenote file because the application can open the file. very expensive application despite what they said this application still in beta version according the issue i have face this last month. Do not use this application if you are a heavy user of onenote like me. too expensive and not worth the price. I go back to virtualisation windows to have a proper onenote application. you paid about 35€, and not even able to have a proper Technical support. Possible answer every 2 weeks: put a password and remove the password or if you are lucky send me the onenote I will fix it for you still waiting or wait for next version, next version worth than before, not even able to fix the first bug

Perfect !

Excellent application ! The Best on the Mac App Store to organize your ideas. Congratulations to the developpment team :-) Good update some little problems are fixed.

It doesn’t support accents

I can’t believe how an application expensive as that has no support for inputing accents like “ á ã â à “. I don’t have problem in any other app… why is Outline like that????

Excelente! / Excelent!

Excelente. A nova versão tem todas as ferramentas necessárias. Excelent. The new version has all tools that everyone needs.

trust issues

Beautiful interface, a good clone of Microsoft OneNote. Problem is: you can’t trust it. It crashes and work gets lost, files in skydrive get corrupted. They say in their blog those issues will be corrected in version 2.1. I hope so. If they really are I’ll write another review. Problem is: will I ever trust it again? I don’t think it’s a smart business strategy to release an app that is not stable and at a relatively high cost. Yeah, maybe they finance their development, but these first customers… chances are they’re lots forever.

Notebook Sync Mess

From time to time I try to use Outline as an OneNote client, the software is resourceful, but it always, ALWAYS make a mess with Notebook Synchronization! There wasn’t a single time that I’ve tried using it that it doesn’t mess with my Notebooks, sometimes even not allowing me a recovery. This is a huge fail. You need to stop adding features until you work out on this synchronization engine, it just DON’T WORK, period! I’ve tried once again to use it, and it messes with my notebook when I’ve tried to create a new Section Group and move a section into it! I’m sorry, but I’m never using it again. I’m also removing it from my Purchases list, and it would be even grateful if I would have a refund on that.

Many crashes and lacking SharePoint capability

I have been waiting a long time for write-access. Unfortunately it crashes a lot and I cannot use my notes from SharePoint sites.

Like it

I like to write down notes on my Mac and PC. Long time for the editing feature but now I can bring my notes together. Some good feature are shapes to create diagrams. No crashes under 10.9 so far… Good UI.

Unacceptable bugs

First upfront: Im very happy that there is finally a OneNote alternative for the Mac on the horizon. BUT!!! This version 2.0 has the state of an alpha version. This is no overstatement at all. And I dont talk about all the missing features which according to the developer will be added soon. No! I am talking about all the basic and fatal UI- and functionality bugs this "final" version has. Misbehavior and malfunctions that could have been detected with a simple and consistent Quality Assurance session in about an hour. Basic text selections via keyboard which are common across the OS arent working. I just opened an 5 minutes old notebook just to realize that all the content was gone (No sections or text at all) (Restarting the app helped though). Fix the app! Soon!!!

works great for me

excellent - although I was afraid when the reviews mentioned crashes, it was well worth risking it. I’ve all my notebooks on SkyDrive and syncing with Windows 8 OneNote works flawlessly. Even with password protected sections, and seeing ink. Well done. Finally no reason to boot up Parallels any time I need a note. No crashes so far - good work guys! Thanks!!

expensive rubbish!

couldn’t open imported office files. Numerous crashes. Weblinks doesn’t work. HANDS OFF!!!

getting better and better

I can still make it crash if I leave it on for more than a day, send my Mac to sleep, turn it on again and then change a lot of things in multiple notes. But no duplication of list items anymore, no data loss. And this can work with local files, other than some other application compatible to this one :-). I start to love this app and think this can become one of my greatest productivity applications on the Mac.

Zomm function is missing

unbelievable, but they didn’t integrate a zoom fuction… what you do on the iPad with your fingers, zoomin in and out of the page…. ist impossible here on the MAC. What a good decision to turn to OneNote some months ago. Outline looks better on the first view but then….. deleted.

OneDrive ist MUSS

It sure is a nice App, would think pretty useful. But the only online sync possible is through OneDrive! If you are not using OneDrive leaf it. If there would be support for dropbox / gdrive / box when it would defenitly be a candy.

Simpel good

it works without any problems and in top of that it works with windows!!!!

OneNote for Mac

I always loved OneNote from Microsoft Office because it gives me the ability to structure a lot of information, but was not willing to install MSOffice on my Mac nor pay 10,-/month for it. So outline is the perfect alternative for me. It let´s me throw all my stuff in there, even files like pdfs, snyc notebooks over different devices, import material from websites and generate and autmatic link. Minor drawbacks: keeping the same notebook open on on two or more devices will produce a version conflict, as for text formatting you can manually change things around but for autoformat are basically stuck with the 8 Formats preconfigured in the Programm. Still - it does what it set out to do, I use the programm a lot, wouldn´t want to live without it!

Crap

Haha you can not sign in directly to skydrive and access your notebooks, you have to export or save them and then read them into Outline. This is a waste of time.

If you want an App that will continuously CRASH

….then Outline is it! I was excited to try Outline because I was a PC user and had ALL my OneNote Notebooks that I still need access to. I didnt care that I couldnt edit them because all I need to do is to be able to view them. Bought the app, watched the little video tried to drag and drop a OneNote notebook from my external hardrive and it CRASHED! I cant even open it, I get a pop up I press send to apple and it happens again. Restarted my computer…tried to open Outline..NOPE same dam pop up, cant open, clicked reopen…nope! nadda! Deleted the app, redownloaded it…nothing! Its too good to be true, if you are trying to view OneNote notebooks, this App will NOT do that, maybe if you are able to import a notebook, but I wasnt even able to do that so it was a total let down. I guess the only option is to save all my OneNote Notebooks to PDFs …great.

MISLEADING!

BE CAREFUL! THIS IS A READER of your OneNote files! You can not create any new documents, you can not do anything unless you have Windows + OneNote installed somewhere where you can create a notebook and then edit it in this app. This is ridiculous.
